AMAZING New Green Technologies in the Works

The world is feeling the effects of climate change. Storms are getting stronger, weather patterns are changing, food is becoming scarce, and animals are going extinct at an alarming rate. Fortunately, while there are many people that are continuing to hurt our environment, there are also people out there who are working feverishly to help it. From simple ideas to entire Eco-cities, new ideas are being developed everyday to help improve the environment and our lives.

Air Purifying Roof Tiles

A big problem with green technology is making it as practical as it is useful. With this in mind, a new trend in practical green technology is the coating of roof tiles with titanium dioxide, which is useful in cleaning the air. Titanium dioxide works as a photocatalyst by oxidizing nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds into soluble nitrates and fatty acids when exposed to UV light. Studies have shown that a thick coating of material on roof tiles reduces 97% of target greenhouse gases, while a thinner, cost effective coat still reduces the target gases by 88%. This means that it could cost just five dollars to coat an entire roof with the purifying compound. One home could remove 21g of nitrogen oxide a day, which is the equivalent of what a car releases driving 18,000 km. Widespread application would allow every home in the world to become a mini-air purifier. The idea is still in the testing phase, but early results have been extremely promising. The lighter color of the tiles also has the added benefit of producing a small cooling effect. There’s also a possibility of producing tiles to remove carbon dioxide, but this would decrease the practicality of the tiles by making the roofs harder to install.

Smog-Eating Buildings

Mexico City’s Manuel Gea Gonzalez Hospital constructed a 2,500 square meter facade that breaks down air pollutants when exposed to UV light. The honeycomb increases the surface area by 200% and allows the structure to neutralize the same amount of pollutants in one day that’s produced by 8,750 cars.

6. The Eco-Cooler

This amazing DIY air conditioning system was created by a Bangladeshi citizen named Ashis Paul and it requires no electricity whatsoever. This makes it the first air conditioning system that runs on zero electricity. Made out of a board and recycled soda bottles, this air conditioner is able to cool the internal temperature of huts up to 5 degrees Celsius, which is good because most huts are made with tin roofs that magnify the sun’s heat. The blueprints on how to create one of these are located online for the public so that everyone is able to build one of these.

5. The Blood Lamp

What would you do for the sake of having electricity? Would you be willing to cut off your own hair? What about giving up just a drop of your essential life force? That’s what Mike Thompson, the designer of the blood lamp, did when he asked himself the question “what if power came at a cost to the individual?” This is more of a statement piece on the matter of energy conservation but it really makes you think doesn’t it? So how is this possible? Thanks to one special ingredient: luminol. For those of you who watch a lot of crime shows you already know but for those of you who don’t, luminol is what forensic scientists use to identify blood. The chemical reaction occurs only when the luminol reacts with the iron in the blood. Isn’t science just so amazing these days?

4. The Immortus

The first invention on this list that runs solely on solar energy is the Immortus car that was created by the company EVX Ventures that is located in Melbourne. Thanks to solar photovoltaic paneling that’s attached to the exterior of the car and a 10killoWatt hour lithium-ion battery, the car is able to run just like any other normal vehicle. It’s also capable of traveling indefinitely at a speed of 37 miles per hour but the range the car can travel is limited by lighting exposure and as the car increases in speed. EVX hopes to start selling their environmentally friendly cars in low volumes to “maintain affordability.”

3. The Ecocapsule

This interesting pod that looks like it was ripped right out of some sci-fi movie is called the ecocapsule and it was created by Nice architects. So what this little egg-shaped contraption lets you do is live completely off the grid by harnessing a multitude of energies all at once. It runs on not only solar power but it’s also wind power and comes with a rainwater collection and filtration system. It might look incredibly small but you’d be surprised to know that the ecocapsule is able to fit two grown adults. Not only that, but all the essential amenities needed in a home such as a kitchenette, a working toilet, and a shower with hot water. The cool thing about this is that it’s super portable and flexible enough to be transported to almost anywhere in the world.

2. The LifeStraw

This amazing little device has the potential to provide millions of people in Third World countries with the opportunity of clean filtered water and it only costs around 37 US Dollars. Created and developed in Denmark back in 2005, the LifeStraw allows you to safely drink water from anywhere. Yes, from toilets to rivers the LifeStraw is capable of removing up to 99.99 percent of waterborne bacteria. Its purification pipe is so incredibly powerful that it can even get rid of parasites such as E. coli, salmonella, and much more. Just one of these LifeStraws is can filter out at least 1,000 liters of water. At the time of its invention, it was given extremely high praises and was dubbed as “one of the ten things that will change the way that we live.”

1. The Ocean Cleanup Device

This device is still just an idea but nonetheless it is a revolutionary idea that could have a monumental impact on our ocean one day. The idea was proposed by a Dutch man named Boyan Slat, who was just 19-years-old at the time that he proposed his idea. He stated that his concept would be able to clean up around 20 billion tons of plastic debris from the ocean without disturbing fish and plankton. If this ends up seeing the light of day it could possibly end up saving the lives of dozen marine animals who are prone to swallowing plastic and end up dead. The Ocean Cleanup Foundation is currently raising funds to see the fruition of this project.

Cool And Weird Inventions For Travelling

8. Motor Scooter Suitcase

Looks like people have come up with a way to make lugging suitcases around a little more fun and bearable. These suitcases have built-in motors complete with a seat. No more missing your flight because you couldn’t drag heavy luggage to the terminal on time. There’s even some that look more like traditional scooters that kids use and don’t come with a motor. A few models have settings that go over 5 miles an hour if you don’t keep it on “indoor” mode.

7. Air Conditioned Shirt

Trendy in Japan, if you don’t mind looking a bit bloated for the sake of keeping cool, this air-conditioned shirt is actually something that exists. Used by lots of label workers, it’s also become quite a popular product for travelers whose vacation spots have higher temperatures. It uses two high powered fans located on the inside to keep you cool during hikes or camping.

6. Water Filter Straws

If you’re like a hiker or just like exploring the nature, you know one of the first rules is to always have enough water with you. But should you ever run out, straws that filter water are handy. The company LifeStraw made the original one back in 1999 to help people living in impoverished areas have clean drinking water by removing worm larvae from the water source. Just don’t try to suck water out of the ocean, as it is not recommended. A water filter that’s as small and easy to use as this might be the difference in staying hydrated and not having any water in the

5. Clear Boat

Clear canoes and kayaks are used mostly to enhance your water excursion visually. Especially if the water is clear, you’ll be able to see the ocean floor and everything swimming under you. While they may not seem sturdy, clear canoes are used often and are usually made of polycarbonate materials like this Molokini kayak made by Clear Blue Hawaii that make it a hard shell but also lightweight, safe for rowing in both the ocean and rivers.

4. Labyrinth Tents
Tents with connecting rooms make is appealing for campers who want to bring more than a handful of friends out camping with them or for anyone who just wants more room in their shelter when they’re not enjoying the outdoors. Decagon tents are just part of how some of them are designed. They come in all shapes and amounts of rooms so it’s not impractical to have a whole party of people camping and trying to have a good time together anymore.

3. 10 Year Old Hoodie

No, it’s not a jacket made for kids. It’s a hoodie that Flint & Tinder claim will last 10 years. It might be $89, but if you’re someone who goes through clothes that fall apart easily, it might be worth the investment. Plus, when you can’t always do laundry or when you always have to do laundry when you’re moving around all the time, it’s nice to have one that won’t rip on you mid-vacation.

2. Ostrich Pillow

For the frequent traveller, ostrich pillows are becoming quite popular. Stick your head in here and enjoy a nice nap at the airport, on a plane, or anywhere you don’t wish to interact with the outside world for a few moments. The holes on the side were made to rest your hands in, but there are also specially made pillows for other parts of your body as well. They’re designed to cancel out most noises and help individuals have a somewhat private space to rest.

1. Aerial tents

Take camping to a new level, literally. Aerial tents get campers off the forest floor away from most bugs, snakes, and anything else unsavory that can’t fly. Most aerial tents are used like hammocks and are only suspended a few feet off the ground or right up against the tree trunk. But like they do at this Bavarian camp, you can buy one that lets you hang right off the branch off a tree. And since they hang off the ground, the tent has minimal contact with the environment, making it a little more eco-friendly than most tents.

Earth Friendly way to clean oil on your driveway

Bio remediation concrete driveway cleaner

Bio remediation concrete driveway cleaner

Mother Nature has come up with a better way to deal with oil spells then man could ever imagine. This bioremediation solution is just a ticket to completely remove oil stains or fuel stains from your driveway. Though the products are fairly new that are available for bioremediation the actual process is not. Mother nature has been dealing with oil stains sense to beginning off time.

Terminator HSD has figured out how to capitalize on mother nature’s efficiency and synthesize the process so that homeowners and business owners can clean their concrete and driveways that have oil stains on them. This little product utilizes a hydrocarbon eating bacteria that are commonly found in oil fields and refineries where oil spills are more common. Mother nature has created the solution it took the scientists behind terminator to make it available to the general public.

The big misnomer that most people believe is that this little environmentally friendly product can not remove completely any; oil stain, grease stain, oil spill, diesel fuel or hydraulic fluid from any surface.  They would be surprised to find this is not true. This means if you have a stain on your driveway or on the asphalt in front of your home or business you no longer have to accept it. Now you can do something about it. Best of all it is so safe to use that it does not require any sort of protective gear and it takes just a few seconds to apply to even the largest stain. This is the most powerful concrete cleaner that you will find on the market today.

Hungry hydrocarbon eating bacteria

Hungry hydrocarbon eating bacteria

Dry concrete cleaners are not necessarily new to the market. However most of them do not have an especially large volume of bacteria that do the work of eating and removing the oils from whatever surface you applied it to. And in the past, the ones that did have a high concentration also had a pretty big price tag. Through technology this has all changed. Terminator HSD offers a product that is comparably priced to a detergent or acid based concrete cleaner but does the work so much better and faster then what any other product would do. Most people are surprised that Terminator HSD will completely remove oil stains from driveway or concrete as if it never existed.

Terminator HSD has nearly 700 times the volume of bacteria eating hydrocarbon van the leading brand today. That means that a smaller portion will go a lot farther then other dry concrete cleaners.

Terminator HSD concrete and driveway cleaner is so confident in their product that they offer a 30 day money back guarantee. If you’re not completely satisfied with how well it has removed the oil stain from your driveway or concrete removal, return the unused portion  for a full refund. With a guarantee like that you just can’t pass it up.
